Quieter rooms. Original windows preserved.
Made-to-measure acoustic secondary glazing for Scottish homes, sash and case windows and period properties.

Understand what affects the price of a quieter home.
Why there is no single price
The price varies with opening dimensions, number of windows, frame type, glazing specification, installation complexity and access. A measured survey is the most reliable basis for a quotation.
What to include in a quotation
Ask for the precise system and glass specification, any stated acoustic test evidence, preparation work, finishing, lead times and whether VAT is included.
Compare like for like
A low-priced unit may not deliver the same result as a carefully specified acoustic system. Compare the complete installed specification rather than glass thickness alone.
Budget for the whole room
Sound can travel through doors, ventilation openings and other gaps. Treating one window may help, but results depend on the entire room and its sound paths.

Technical guide: selecting acoustic glazing for your property
How acoustic specification affects price
Cost depends partly on whether standard or acoustic laminated glass is appropriate, the required opening mechanism, the cavity available and any specialist installation details. Ask for the exact glazing make-up and applicable acoustic evidence when comparing quotations.
Understanding acoustic glazing test figures
Manufacturers may quote Rw, a laboratory weighted sound reduction index in decibels. Rw + C and Rw + Ctr are spectrum-adapted ratings; Ctr is especially relevant when assessing noise containing more low-frequency energy, such as road traffic. These values are not a promise of the decibel reduction measured inside an occupied room.
What determines the finished result?
The original window, the separation between the panes, glazing composition, perimeter seals and installation detailing all affect acoustic performance. Air leakage and sound passing through vents, walls or adjoining construction can limit the benefit. The right solution is chosen for the complete window and the actual noise source, not by glass thickness alone.
